High School English Teacher - Mesivta of Boston
Mesivta of Boston is hiring a high school English teacher with strong interpersonal skills and creative lesson planning and instruction skills to engage students. Our flexible curriculum and part-time hours are ideal for a current middle or high school teacher looking for additional hours, a graduate student in either English or education, or a retired teacher who isn’t quite ready to leave it all behind.
Mesivta of Boston is an all-boys Yeshiva high school in Brighton, MA. Relationships and collaboration are key here. With only about 50 students and a small building, it is easy for you to get to know other teachers and interact with colleagues across content areas. Responsibilities include:
Create and implement lesson plans You will be responsible for teaching high school English classes to small classes of boys in grades 9, 10, and 11. An AP track is available for eligible students and may be offered depending on student readiness and teacher interest.
Monitor and communicate student progress Provide feedback to students and their families on academic, social, and behavioral progress. Maintain appropriate records. Create two-way communication channels with families so they are updated on their child’s progress.
Other responsibilities As assigned by the Head of School.
Who you are:
- You are warm, nurturing, and connect well with teenage boys.
- You are a creative thinker with a willingness and ability to adapt lessons quickly. You are willing to try different things to engage students.
- You are interested in tailoring a curriculum to engage students in learning English literature and writing.
- You have a background in either English or education, or ideally both.

Location: The Mesivta of Boston is in Brighton, Massachusetts
Hours: Monday-Thursday 3:15-6:15 p.m. (hours are flexible based on availability)
Salary: $25,000-$30,000 per year, based on experience.
Benefits: Employees may be eligible professional development opportunities and will have time off for national and Jewish holidays. No classes on Fridays.
