Art Teacher - Striar Hebrew Academy
Striar Hebrew Academy of Sharon (SHAS) is seeking a passionate and creative Art Teacher to join our dynamic faculty team on a part-time basis. You will lead engaging, age-appropriate art classes for students in grades Pre-K through grade 5, cultivating creativity, artistic skills, and self-expression in alignment with SHAS’s educational values.
Responsibilities
- Teach visual arts to students in Pre-K through 5th grade, in alignment with the school’s curriculum and values.
- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive art lessons that integrate various media, techniques, and art history.
Encourage student creativity and provide individualized feedback and support.
Organize student artwork displays throughout the school year and help coordinate school-wide art events or exhibitions.
Ensure proper use and care of art supplies and equipment, including the art-cart
Collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators to integrate art into interdisciplinary projects or school-wide themes and special programs
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
Prior teaching experience with elementary and/or early childhood students
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Enthusiasm for working in a Jewish day school setting and respect for Jewish traditions and values (no need to be Jewish).
Knowledge of Jewish holidays and traditions a plus
Ability to differentiate instruction and foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Details
- Compensation is $25-$27/hour, based on experience and qualifications.
- This position is 1 day per week for 8 hours
- Time off for all national and Jewish holidays, plus early release on Fridays
