Maimonides School, a K-12 Modern Orthodox Jewish day school in Brookline, MA, is hiring a middle school English teacher for the 2025- 2026 school year. You will teach literature, poetry, and writing to students in grades 6 through 8, with the potential to teach high school courses as well, depending on scheduling.

Responsibilities

• You will teach four sections of English, primarily at the middle school level (grades 6-8) with the potential to also teach some Upper School classes
• Collaborate with colleagues in the English and Humanities departments
• Regular lesson planning and classroom instruction responsibilities; you will have the potential to adjust curriculum and propose curriculum recommendations based on experience and interests 

Who you are

• Hold a Master’s degree in English or a related field
• Have 5 years of experience teaching English at the secondary level
• Connect easily with and appreciate middle school and high school students
• Ability to teach at all secondary grade levels 6-12 
• Can differentiate instruction to develop students as critical readers, thinkers, and writers
• A reflective educator—eager for continuous growth, open to support and feedback, and an excellent collaborator 
• Are eager to participate in all aspects of school life
• Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated interest in collaborating with colleagues in humanities fields across our academic program

• Salary range is $65,000-$72,000, commensurate with years of experience and highest degree earned
