Gann Academy is hiring a math teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The position may be full or part-time and you would teach a variety of math classes at the standard level. You should have a passion for math, a strong background in classroom teaching, skills in curriculum design and pedagogy, and experience reaching a variety of learners.  We value teachers who are committed to collaborating, reflecting, and growing in their teaching practice, and who value a partner- or team-based approach to student work. 

This is an in-person, part-time or full-time position starting with professional development on August 10th, 2026, and classes beginning the last week of August. This position reports to the Assistant Director of STEM. The salary range is between $60,000-$90,000 annually, commensurate with the number of classes taught, relevant work experience, and qualifications.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Teaching Duties:
  • Teach one or more sections of the following courses: Intermediate Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus, and/or Statistics.
  • Develop new materials for courses taught and/or adapt existing materials, including assessments, to suit students' needs.
  • Complete grading and update grades in our learning management system regularly.
  • Take attendance and manage the classroom.
  • Offer differentiated instruction to serve a wide range of learners.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues in person and via email.
  • Use technology and other educational tools to support student learning.
Collaborative Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan, adapt, and implement curriculum and lessons that support student growth and that align with the course curriculum of Gann Academy’s Math Department.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on Math Department initiatives.
  • Work with students outside of the classroom during prescribed office hours.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across all departments, including the Deans’ team, Learning Center, and the advisory program.
  • Attend and participate in department meetings; collaborate with department members and Instructional Director on curriculum development, lesson planning, student issues, and department initiatives.
  • Assist colleagues with substitution when able; arrange and communicate class coverage as needed.
Community Involvement & Engagement:
  • If full-time, advise a group of 10th-, 11th- or 12th-graders as assigned.
  • Serve as an advisor to one club.
  • Attend and participate in communal programs outside the classroom during school hours; model and encourage appropriate behavior and monitor students during events and programming.
  • Attend and participate in open houses, graduation, and other special events which may take place in the evenings and/or weekends.
Professional Development, Growth, and Training
  • Attend and participate in all faculty/staff work-day programs, in-service training (including both August and June in-service days), orientation programs, seminars, and safety training/drills.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities in or out of school; display willingness and ability to grow, learn, and practice self-reflection; work with Instructional Director and other members of the faculty and administration on educational and pedagogical growth and innovative tools and techniques in and out of the classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics is required; a master’s degree is preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Commitment to student-centered, mastery-based teaching
  • Understanding of how to differentiate instruction for learners with broader needs and those eager to explore material beyond the required content
  • The qualities of creativity, curiosity, perseverance, and flexibility are highly desirable
  • Effective communicators to colleagues, students, and parents
  • Excel in time and energy management
  • Adept at learning new technology platforms, including the Microsoft Office265 suite
  • Must be proficient in English to carry out work as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands include dexterity for office machine/supply operation, including but not limited to computer, telephone, electronic calculator, copy machine, and printers. Stooping, bending, reaching for files or supplies, and sitting or standing for extended periods are common.
