Bais Yaakov, an all-girls high school, is hiring a history teacher. You will teach Western Civilization and American History at a collegiate level to highly motivated students in grades 10-12. This position is in conjunction with Quincy College and is ideal for a current graduate student (post Masters degree) in either education or History, a college instructor looking for additional teaching, or a recently retired teacher or professor who isn’t quite ready to leave it all behind!

 

What you will do 

Classroom Instruction: You will teach 1 section of American history and 1 section of Western Civilization. While the curriculum is outlined by Quincy College, your passion and creativity will make a college curriculum come to life for high school students. Our small class sizes make it easier for you to tailor instruction to meet the individual needs of your students. 

Communication: You will communicate regularly with families and with school administration about student progress, curriculum, and other issues as they arise. You will also have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across departments.  

 

Who you are

  • You hold either a Bachelors or Masters degree in History or a degree in Education
  • You have some teaching experience, either formal or informal environments
  • You appreciate or are willing to learn the nuances of teaching in an orthodox religious environment
  • Having high school or college teaching experience is a plus 
 

Details

This is a part time position teaching 3 class periods per day for a total of 8 hours per week. There are no additional faculty meetings or obligations other than lesson preparation and grading. 

  • Classes meet Monday-Thursday afternoons; we can be flexible with scheduling to meet your needs; 11:40–5:15; 8 hours/week
  • Annual salary is $22,000 - $24,000, based on experience
  • Benefits include paid time off for federal and Jewish holidays, no class on Fridays, and small class sizes (range is 8-18 students per class)
